Antonov an-225
payload 250,000 KG/551,156 lbs
The Antonov An-225 is the world's largest aircraft and the only one equipped with six turbofan engines. On short and medium haul routes, up to 250 tons of cargo can be transported, including single cargo weighing up to 200 tons, which can meet various cargo charter needs p>
About Antonov An-225 Transport Aircraft
- At present, there is only one An-225 transport aircraft that has been truly completed. In the 1980s, a more advanced second version of the transport aircraft was put into production, but the project was abandoned more than 20 years later li>
- There are 20 steerable wheels in the 32 wheel landing gear. The front landing gear consists of 4 steerable wheels, with the other 16 located at the rear of the 18 wheel main landing gear li>
- The An-225 transport plane was originally responsible for transporting space shuttles (the Bran Space Shuttle) for the Soviet space program. In 1989, the An-225 transport plane landed with the space shuttle at the Paris Air Show, making a high-profile appearance on the international stage li>
The design payload of the An-225 transport aircraft is twice that of the Boeing 747 freighter, with an overall size of a football field from nose to tail and from one wing tip to the other. Its maximum takeoff weight is as high as 1.32 million pounds (approximately 598 tons), and its size and lifting capacity make the 747 freighter feel inadequate p>
The size and weight of the Antonov An-225 transport plane meant that it needed a lot of power to leave the ground, so Antonov's Ukrainian engineers installed a full six engines on the transport plane, each capable of outputting a powerful thrust of 51590 pounds p>
Internal Design
The cargo hold of the An-225 transport aircraft has a total length of 142.1 feet, a width of nearly 21 feet, and an internal height of approximately 14 feet. Its internal cargo hold space is sufficient to accommodate 50 cars p>
The interior of the cargo hold consists of a main cargo hold deck, a side cargo hold area, and an engineering hold; The main cargo hold deck has a built-in crane capable of handling 33 tons of cargo, the side cargo hold area is used to store large items and tools for aircraft maintenance, and the engineering cabin is large enough to accommodate four crew members. The cockpit is located at the top of the aircraft and can only be accessed through a retractable ladder p>
Technical Features
The most striking and perhaps most famous technical feature of the An-225 transport aircraft is its engine. The power unit of the An-225 transport aircraft consists of six ZMKB Progress Lotarev D-18T turbofan jet engines, enabling it to reach a maximum speed of 528mph at an altitude of 36000 feet. Having these powers means that with a full tank, the An-225 can fly 9569 miles, which is equivalent to flying from London to Australia p>
Development History
There is only one An-225 transport plane that has truly been completed. The second An-225 transport aircraft began production in the late 1980s, but production was abandoned before the aircraft was completed in 2009 p>
Afterwards, the manufacturer also made several attempts to resume production of the second An-225 transport aircraft. In 2021, Yuriy Husyev, CEO of UkrOboronProm, the parent company of Antonov, admitted that he is still looking for investors. But there is currently no specific plan to produce this transport plane again p>
Manufacturer
Antonov State Company, formerly known as Antonov Design Bureau, is a top secret organization established in 1946 at the Novosibirsk Aircraft Production Association, led by Oleg Antonov. The company specializes in producing super large aircraft and aircraft that can use unprepared runways p>
In July 2017, Ukrainian state-owned weapons manufacturer Ukroboronprom announced the establishment of the Ukrainian Aircraft Company, merging all aircraft manufacturing enterprises, including Antonov assets, into one cluster p>
Cost
The cost of the Antonov An-225 transport aircraft ranges from 250 million to 300 million US dollars, and despite its high price, its unique cargo capacity is unmatched by other aircraft p>
How to purchase
Unless Antonov no longer needs their ultimate cargo main aircraft, the An-225 is unlikely to be sold in the short term - if you have cargo that other standard cargo planes cannot carry, you may be able to rent an An-225 transport plane p>
Charter rates
The cost of cargo charter flights for Antonov An-225 transport aircraft varies depending on different transportation factors, such as the weight and type of goods being transported, as well as the distance and route of the journey. If you need to transport a large amount of goods and believe that the An-225 transport plane can meet yourcargo transport charterneeds, please contact usand we will handle the charter arrangements for you p>
